Level 1 I think that Doug Henning the hippy magician from the 70's..... j/k level 1 Where exactly is Dracula regarded as the first vampire? In the movie itself? This may be something that exists in specific fiction, but vampire myths existed long before Dracula (the man), and this is hardly a wide-spread notion. Even in the novel Dracula, there's no indication that Dracula is the first vampire. level 2 I did a google search, I probably should have said one of the most widely known early vampires. We were looking for a fun Halloween type movie that was spooky, but didn't take itself too seriously. Luckily we stumbled across a real gem called "Vampires vs the Bronx" on Netflix. It's a story, as you might tell from the title, about vampires trying to invade the Bronx. Putting aside the very clever metaphor of comparing the vampires to gentrification, this movie was a blast! The protagonists were four teenagers who completely nailed their parts (no pun intended), and were a pleasure to watch. The writing was zippy and full of great one-liners and lots of laughs. It is one part horror, one part coming of age, but also does a fair amount of commenting on urban dynamics. If you are from the Bronx, this film would make you proud. While it has tones of Stranger Things, The Lost Boys, and even Roll Bounce, it stands on its own. We were cheering by the end, and it's one of the films that leaves you feeling good. If you're looking for something light and fun to watch this Halloween season, please give this movie a chance!
